Scanfox Privacy Policy
Last updated: 28 July 2026
This page is the privacy policy for Scanfox, an Android document scanner, PDF toolkit and file viewer published by the same developer as QRaft. It is hosted here on qraft.in. (Looking for the privacy policy of the QRaft website instead? It's on the QRaft privacy page.)
Scanfox is built so that your documents stay on your phone. This policy explains, in plain language, exactly what the app does and does not do with your data.
The short version: Scanfox has no account, no login and no cloud. We do not collect, store or transmit your documents, images or the text inside them. The only data leaving your device is what Google's advertising and billing services need in order to work.
1. Your documents stay on your device
- Everything you scan, import, compress, resize, convert, sign, annotate, translate or edit is stored only in the app's private storage on your device. Other apps cannot read it.
- We do not upload, copy or transmit your documents, images or the text inside them to any server. There is no account, no login and no sync.
- All document processing runs entirely on your device: text recognition (OCR), language detection, translation, barcode and QR decoding, image enhancement and filters, blur detection, PDF creation, encryption and compression.
- Deleting a document moves it to "Recently deleted", where you can restore it. Emptying the trash — or letting an item auto-expire after 30 days — removes it from your device permanently.
- Backups you create are plain
.zipfiles written to a location you choose. We never see them. - Uninstalling the app removes all documents held in its private storage.
2. Permissions the app requests
Scanfox declares only three permissions:
- Internet and network state — to load ads, download optional language packs and check connectivity. They are never used to send your documents anywhere.
- Notifications (optional) — used solely for an occasional reminder that temporary files have built up and can be cleared. There are no marketing notifications. Declining costs you nothing.
Scanfox does not request camera or storage permissions. Scanning and QR reading are handled by Google Play services' own scanner screens, which capture the image and hand the finished page back to the app. Files you open from elsewhere on your device are chosen by you through Android's own file picker.
3. When the app uses the network
The app works offline for all document tasks. It contacts the network only for:
- Ads — see section 4.
- On-device processing models — Google Play services downloads the text-recognition and translation models used for OCR and offline translation. The download contains no content of yours; once installed, recognition and translation run offline.
- Google Play Billing — only if you choose to buy "Remove ads".
- The Google Play in-app review prompt — only if you choose to rate the app.
- Links you tap — for example this policy, the Play Store listing, or the QRaft QR generator linked from the Tools tab. Tapping a link opens your browser and leaves the app; those sites have their own privacy policies. Links to QRaft carry a non-personal campaign tag that tells the site the visit came from Scanfox — no identifier of you is attached.
4. Advertising
Scanfox is free and funded by ads served through Google AdMob. To serve ads, Google's SDK may collect and process certain data, including your device's advertising ID and limited device and usage information, in line with Google's policies:
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, the app shows Google's consent form (User Messaging Platform) before ads load, so you can choose whether your data is used for personalised advertising. You can change that choice later from the app's settings, and you can reset or limit your advertising ID at any time in Settings → Google → Ads on your device.
We do not use any analytics, crash-reporting or tracking SDK of our own inside the app. We receive no personal information about you from the ad network — only aggregate, anonymous earnings reports.
5. In-app purchases and rewarded ads
- The app offers one optional one-time purchase, "Remove ads", processed by Google Play Billing. Payment is handled entirely by Google. We never see or store your card details, name or address; the app only receives a signed confirmation that the purchase exists, and the ad-free status is stored on your device and tied to your Google account by Google Play.
- You may instead choose to watch an optional rewarded video ad in exchange for a temporary ad-free period. Watching is always your choice, and the ad is served by AdMob under the terms described in section 4.
6. Security features
- The app lock and the Private Safe use your phone's own biometric or screen-lock credential. Scanfox never sees, stores or transmits your fingerprint, face data or PIN.
- Password-protecting a PDF encrypts that file locally on your device. The password is not stored or transmitted anywhere and we cannot recover it — if you forget it, the file cannot be opened.
7. Children's privacy
Scanfox is a general-purpose productivity tool. It is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
8. Your rights and choices
Because the app holds no account and collects no personal data on our side, there is nothing for us to export or erase on your behalf. You remain in full control:
- Delete individual documents, empty the trash, or use Settings → Free up space to clear temporary files.
- Uninstall the app to remove everything it stored.
- Manage advertising data through your device's Google Ads settings and, in the EEA/UK, through the consent form described in section 4.
- To exercise data rights in relation to advertising data held by Google, contact Google using the links in section 4.
9. About this web page
Sections 1–8 describe the Scanfox Android app. This page itself is part of the QRaft website, which — like most websites — may use cookies for analytics and advertising. Those cookies belong to the website, not to the app, and are described in the QRaft website privacy policy.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app changes. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after an update means you accept the revised policy.
